Slack posts a notice about five minutes before, then signs everyone out.

  2. Sign-in reopens

Sign in again on every device with your email and password.

  3. Direct messages caught up

Direct messages finish migrating in the background.

Updates

  1. The migration is scheduled to start on Saturday 10 October at 03:30 UTC (Friday 9 October, 11:30 p.m. EDT). Read the FAQ to get ready.

Before you go

  • Make sure you have a Slack password. Signing in with an emailed code stops working after the migration. How to set one.
  • Screenshot your profile if you’ve filled in custom fields such as a GitHub link; they don’t carry over.

When Slack is back

  • Go to macadmins.slack.com and choose “Enter email and password”. The green “Sign in with SSO” button is for the board and moderators only.
  • Sign in again on every device: desktop app, phone and browser.
  • Missing direct messages are still on their way; they catch up over about 10 hours.
